The Springs' 18-thermal pools contain the highest mineral concentration of any Arenal hot spring. Loaded with sodium, bicarbonate, potassium, and other minerals, the thermal pools are said to help increase blood circulation, regulate heart rhythms, reduce hypertension and cure skin infections.
Pools
You'll first encounter the Laguna wet bar in the main pool. It's the only chlorinated pool on the premises filled with clear blue water. It too, has spectacular views of Arenal Volcano and the interceding valley. The surrounding thermal pools range in temperature from 76 to 103 degrees.
These include the infinity pools that have the hottest water and the best view of any hot spring in Arenal. Below them, there's a cascade flowing into a free-form landscaped rock beach where guests can wade in the shallow waters or suntan in the nearby deckchairs.
Another eight pools lie hidden farther down the mountain in Perdido Springs. Mineral waters flow down a series of waterfalls through freeform, landscaped pools that range from intimate to party-size – the latter is right next to a bar. Nearby, there's a waterslide that flows into the bottom pool.
Food, Drinks & Service
The Springs have four different restaurants; fine dining, Japanese, casual dining and a grill, but for those with a 2-day pass dinner is included at the casual dining restaurant. Pass holders receive a special menu that includes a choice of soup or salad, an entree and a dessert. Entrees like the spicy tilapia marinated in a cilantro lime pesto are tasty, but small.
There are two bars near the pools, the wet bar and a tiki bar down by Perdido Springs. Both serve a variety of blended and standard cocktails for about $10 including their own twist on the local blended cocktail, the Lava flow: made with Pasion del Guapo rum, Malibu, banana liqueur, coconut cream, pineapple juice, orange juice and strawberries.
