Monteverde Cloud Forest Train
Replica 19th century steam engines roll through the misty cloud forest taking guests along 4 miles of track through Monteverde's primary and secondary rainforest. Along the two-hour journey guests will pass through pastures and rainforest encompassing the 150-acre private reserve while a local guide informs on the local flora. The air cools down as guests pass into the forest where trees grow more than 130-feet tall and ferns grow thick along the forest floor. The tracks lead to a second station with a viewpoint of the Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal followed by brief snack of coffee and tea. An optional quarter-mile trail leads up the mountain into the cloud forest showcasing the thick, green flora and looping back around to the station.
