Costa Rican culture is steeped in coffee; 200 hundred years and still brewing. A visit to Don Juan's Coffee farm immerses visitors in the customs and traditions of Costa Rica while teaching them about America's favorite stimulant. For instance, did you know that it takes 70 to 80 beans to make a single cup of coffee?

The artisanal coffee is grown, sun-dried and roasted on-site. Taste the beans, learn about the variety of flavors created in the roasting process and finish with a cup of coffee – your choice of light, medium, or dark roast.
After the introduction to the coffee-making process, the tour includes a brief discourse in the production of sugar and chocolate; each finishing with a taste of the special sauce (sweet juice from the sugar cane and hot cocoa from freshly ground chocolate).
Don Juan's farm has been in the family for nearly the last hundred years, since the time Don Juan's father first landed in Cañitas (a town nearby Santa Elena) back in the 1920s. Don Juan, now 75 years, still walks around his grounds, introducing himself to guests and chatting with the farm's employees.
